About
Kayla Brown and Dan Hurwitz, fresh off eleven straight rejections at both national and international film festivals for their debut short, the award-eligible “This Is Spinal Injury,” will return to their roots–stand-up comedy. This live comedy show will feature, in addition to Brown and Hurwitz, local comedians Michael Bellevue, Howie Echo-Hawk, Cheri Hardman, and more.
Feb. 2022 Lineup:
Michael Bellevue
Michael Bellevue is an avid sailor, reader and writer of Russian, standup producer, avid volunteer who’s produced several fundraisers for non profits, comedian, chess player since age 5, linguistics fan, and, self-evidently, Black. He volunteered at a food bank for 15 months during the pandemic.
Kayla Brown
Kayla Brown is an activist, PhD student, and co-producer of The Disabled List. This Is Spinal Injury is her first film.
Courtney Cole
She’s only got one working eye but that’s ok because she has lots of jokes. Courtney is an activist, student, and has never done stand up comedy before. We’ll see how this goes!
Howie Echo-Hawk
Howie Echo-Hawk is a Queer, nonbinary “comedian” and all around Native person.
Cheri Hardman
Cheri Hardman captivates audiences with hilarious tales about being a plus size, menopausal babe. She won Tacoma Comedy Club’s “The Comedy Voice,” was a finalist in Nate Jackson’s Super Funny Comedy Club’s “Funniest MF Out Here” and performed in Seattle International Comedy Competition. Her bawdy, sassy style makes her the perfect host for “Heavy Petting with Cheri Hardman.”
Laura Hamilton
Laura got her start trying out material on her family before moving on to more receptive audiences, such as her cat. You may have seen her around Seattle, Zooming improv with friends for The Bandit Theater, stalking talent at Jet City Improv or Laughs Comedy Club, and telling aimless stories for the D List.
Dan Hurwitz
Dan Hurwitz is a comedian, writer, and filmmaker. In 2019 he was a semifinalist in the Standup NBC national comedy competition. This Is Spinal Injury is his first film.
Crystal Liston
Crystal is a PNW native and has been in the disability game for 32 yrs. She has decided to throw her hat into the comedy arena in hopes that the fame will help out her political career.
