What is Northwest Film Forum to You? A Message from Artistic Director Rana San
In case you missed our Winter Party Wordplay, NWFF stands for a lot of things! Here are some top sentiments shared by the community:
NEVER WITHOUT FUN FILMS
It’s true, and the fun goes beyond! We’re diving into the new year with: film festival favorites (Wang Bing’s Dead Souls, Sundance Film Festival Short Film Tour), live shows (Missisippi Records American Tour, QTPOC poets’ summit Sister Spit), new series (Shaw Brothers kung fu, Nocturnal Emissions horror-burlesque), and recurring festivals (Children’s Film Festival Seattle, ByDesign, Cadence Video Poetry).
NEAT WHIMSICAL FANCY FREAKS
In addition to curated community discussions (Divide & Conquer: The Story of Roger Ailes, On Her Shoulders), and visiting artists (Worlds of Ursula K. Le Guin, Endless Letterpress), a glance at our calendar reveals a spectrum of other possibilities: multimedia literary events, trans/queer smut film screenings, retro horror-burlesque series, Mexican art house of the ‘70s, and Wang Bing’s 8-hour durational documentary, with popcorn refills on us!
NOODLE WIGGLIN’ FANTASTIC FRIENDS
In partnership with our fellow media org roomies and community, we are constantly optimizing opportunities for resource-sharing and integrated programming. The past few months featured co-presentations with CAIR-WA, TeenTix, Seattle DSA Queer & Feminist Caucus, Chiapas Media Project/Promedios, Artist Trust, Arts in Nature Festival, Jack Straw Cultural Center, GABRIELA Seattle, Henry Art Gallery, and Longhouse Media, with more to come.

NOW WE FUND FUTURES
Not a perfect sentence, but a true sentiment. As we prioritize collective agency and collaboration, the stories told on our stage and screen will continue to reflect those of the individuals and communities we serve.

Your gift will allow us to continue the work we’ve begun – the work you’ve asked us to do – building a FORUM FOR ALL.
