About
Peter Emanuel Goldman’s poetic, ultra-lo-fi Echoes of Silence was shot on a microscopic budget in Greenwich Village and Times Square in 1964. It was awarded the special prize at the 1966 Pesaro Film Festival by a jury that included Godard, Bellocchio and Bertolucci. A series of sketches introduced by hand painted title cards, it wanders restlessly through the ferocious/wistful sexualities of New York’s early ‘60s bohemian underground. Cellist and composer Lori Goldston, performs live scores with old and new films throughout the US and Europe. For Echoes of Silence she is joined by drummer Dan Sasaki to perform a score that is immersive and experiential, improvising within the tension and space of the film’s dreamy atmosphere.
